Money Coach and AI Features

Version 2026-10-draft-2 · Questions: privacy@leighnibor.com

Your Money Coach is AI

The Money Coach is an artificial intelligence system, not a person. It is built on a large language model provided by Anthropic. It can explain, ask questions, notice patterns and help you plan, but it can be wrong, misunderstand you, or miss something important.

It is not a licensed financial advisor, planner, credit counsellor, insolvency trustee, accountant or lawyer, and what it says is coaching and education, not advice. Check anything important with a qualified professional before you act on it, especially decisions about investments, taxes, insolvency, consumer proposals or bankruptcy, and legal matters.

What the coach sees

To reply, the coach is sent:

  • a summary of your finances: income, spending by category, budgets, debts and balances, accounts, and goals;
  • your recent transactions;
  • profile details you've added, such as profession, relationship status and children;
  • the conversation so far, and your Coach Notes.

This is sent to Anthropic to generate the reply. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models. See our Privacy Policy for more on our service providers.

Reading statements, receipts and notes

When you use Quick add or import a statement, receipt or CSV file, it's sent to Anthropic's AI to read the transactions in it. We use it only for that request: the file isn't stored by Guardrail, and the AI's reading is shown to you as a list to check.

  • Nothing is saved until you review it. You can correct any line, untick it, or leave it out. Lines that look like something you've already recorded are flagged and unticked.
  • AI can misread. Check dates and amounts against your statement, especially when Guardrail warns that the lines don't add up to the closing balance.
  • If you tick “remember” on a line, Guardrail saves a matching rule (for example, that “pre-authorized debit MNP” is your proposal payment). You can see and remove your rules at any time.

Coach Notes

So it can coach you well over time, the coach keeps short notes about what it learns: your goals, what tends to get in your way, what has worked, and what you've agreed to try.

  • You can read every note. Nothing the coach remembers about you is hidden from you.
  • You can respond to any note, for example to correct it or add context. The coach reads your response alongside the note.
  • Notes are a running record. They aren't rewritten after the fact; a correction is added as a new entry, so the history stays honest.
  • Notes are deleted with your account, along with your coach conversations.

Using it well

  • Don't share passwords, full card or account numbers, or government ID numbers with the coach. It never needs them.
  • If something the coach says doesn't sound right, question it, and correct its notes.
  • If you are in financial crisis or distress, please contact a qualified professional or a non-profit credit counselling service.
